“For fans only”: Sunday, December 18th, the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo will celebrate its 40th anniversary since its inauguration by showing itself to the public in a yet unseen form: open bonnets to admire not only the bodyworks, but also the engines, the “Racing Heart” of Alfa Romeos

The Museo Storico Alfa Romeo in Arese will be 40 years old, and to celebrate this occasion it will show itself to the public in a yet unseen form: the cars will be exhibited in the museum with open bonnets, to give visitors a chance to admire not only the splendid bodyworks, but also the refined mechanics. This will happen on Sunday, December 18th, on the day of the 40th anniversary of the official opening of the Museum. Already the title of the event – “For fans only” – makes it clear that the museum visit, on that day, will be very special: protagonists of the event are the Alfa Romeo “Racing Heart” and the hidden side of the vehicles on display. Visitors will be able to admire not only the engines of the many cars, but also the fascinating vertical doors of the Carabo, the huge bonnets of the Tipo 33s and – for the first time since 1989 – the carbon fibre chassis of the 164 ProCar.

Opened officially precisely on December 18th, 1976, the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo was the fruit of the company’s pride for its history. Promoting the idea was Orazio Satta Puliga, who headed the museum project since the end of the Second World War, greatly supported by president Giuseppe Luraghi. Later, Luigi Fusi had the task of rearranging the collection and organizing the exhibition in a building specifically created for the museum inside the Management Center of the company. The same Museum which, on June 24th 2015, was the cornerstone of the Brand’s rebirth, after a thorough refurbishing project executed by architect Benedetto Camerana.

Today, “The Time Machine” is a modern museum which has attracted more than 100 thousand visitors in its first year of activity thanks to a contemporary language that tells the fascinating story of Alfa Romeo, not only to “alfisti” or Alfa Romeo enthusiasts, but also to a wider public and to the new generations.

The Museum, located in Arese in viale Alfa Romeo, can be visited every day, except for Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
