The epic of the Alfa Romeo Twin-shaft among the ‘small’ one-seaters

Alfa Romeo was the leader of Formula 3 championships for over a decade thanks to the unbeatable
performance of the two-litre ‘twin-shaft’ engine. At first, it had been derived from the engine of the
Alfetta, and later from the Twin Spark that made its debut on the Alfa 75 in 1987. The frames were
made by March, Dallara, Euroracing and many others, while the drivers often went on to become
famous in the top league.
