"The revolution of colour": display of materials about the Collection and the Alfa Romeo Documentation Centre
August 1-2 (opening hours 10-18).

The colour of cars has evolved hand in hand with progress in technology, performance, and the shape of bodyworks. A true revolution, however, came in the 1950s, when Alfa Romeo decided to rethink the image of the Brand: the cars were now named with female names and the colours were the result of careful research that reached beyond the coachbuilding department and embraced the environments of Milanese fashion through the collaboration with fashion designer Jole Veneziani, one of the founders of Italian haute couture. New hues came to life, new combinations, new materials, and a new way of designing cars. In addition to the Museum's coral red Giulietta, the Alfa Romeo Historical Documentation Centre yielded revolutionary colour charts with innovative solutions for bodyworks and exteriors to be combined with the garments created by the Milanese fashion designer.
